cavelion dinged L85

ok he was dinged a few days ago but i didnt blog then. too lazy

as usual, my later alts usually get the benefits of the mains so cave was already ready to heal heroic dungeons on hitting level cap.

er. of course, a lot of his starter L85 gear were PVP BoE stuff that was tailored by Davina. it also helped that he got a free BoE epic cloak picked up by one of the mains on Firetree, and that he is alchemist so he made his own ilvl 359 trinket.

so once i upgraded his gear, did the final bits of training and talents, off he queued as healer and ran H Tides. it was a power group so he had a super easy time healing (in fact, he did a bit of dps in his free time, the tank was that OP)

but i think im just gonna keep him doing transmutes and nothing else :) no time to get him geared up, except for maybe the usual welfare epics or the occasional H run.

i wont even use him for herbing (same as blackstealth, who is also a herbalist. he now just opens locked boxes) since he wont get any farming xp. i use dethnyte (82) and darksunder (83) for the job.

since i had picked up so much herbs in my efforts to get volatile life for alchemy transmutes, and i wasnt into making darkmoon decks, i got blackstealth to convert them into glyphs and made the full set of glyphs for all my firetree toons. except those which require to learn from books which i dont have.

spiritcat has finally got enuf gear to run ZAZG. the run was super long, due to lag issues with the tank, and some strange healing from the pally healer too. he has tons of mana but the tank still dies. so what gives? nevertheless, the group pretty much stuck together through the wipes.

the hardest fight was due to lag, at the 3rd or 4th boss. cos if tank lag when boss is on a green circle, the boss can actually heal back to full health! and did many times, until the enrage (beserk) timer was activated. fortunately, around that time, the tank lag was resolved, and we managed to down him before the 5 minutes were up. the fight took over 6 minutes!

originally, i thought the guild might still do some basic raiding, but now i dont think so. so it would be pointless to run tons of H for everstone or to mine and transmute for epic gear.

i will still be mining and transmuting, cos you never know when the mats will come in useful (at the AH!)

Everstone dinged!

actually, everstone had been L84 for the longest time. but i didnt take him into any dungeons or questing (stopped after getting the SW portal opened in Twilight Highlands).

instead, i levelled him via mining! ROFL! i did a screencap of it.

gear-wise, he already has a full set of blue L85 bloodthirsty resilience gear, an epic tanking trinket from JPs saved up from former dungeon runs,  plus some other stuff xense and other firetree toons picked up/crafted for him

so he was ready for H dungeons right from hitting the level cap, but first, i had to train and spec him up, then gem and enchant.

then i took him to queue for H.

unfortunately, his first run was H Stonecore, and i failed at the Orzuk boss fight. i just cant get the tanking mechanics right. i felt really bad about it. cos the rest of the party were ok. i can tank for normal, but H is just too complicated. even after i get the sequencing right, i get the timing wrong. i probably need to practice more. so good luck to those who are stuck in my party!

next run was H Tides. that one i am confident about. so we cleared thru, ok, with a couple of deaths along the way. for example, on the 1st fight, i think healer ran out of mana, and so i died.  i think the party was a bit low on gear, cos all the boss drops were needed. so Everstone picked up his first VPs!

a H LFG run that failed for Spiritcat

this one is an awesome epic fail. we didnt even make it to downing the 1st boss. everyone just left in the middle of the fight, when people started dying.

actually, i already suspected it wont be a good run. whenever there are 2 healers in a mob, the tank would ask the druid to root one. which totally is useless, so i ended up using MC on the rooted healer. then they went off and broke the hex on the other healer…. sigh.

at least, there was a best excuse to use root on a castor: that way i know where they are (Griffin-Stonemaul) – i even have a screencap of the convo.

my virtual life so far

due to real life time constraints, i have decided some time ago to drop my toons on blackwater raiders. so they will stay forever 80. lol.

instead, i have just been playing firetree and jubei’thos. even so, my main on firetree is better geared than my main on jubei. since my guilds on both realms are non-raiding, i have just been gearing up my pal’s toon, xense. so he can go raid with other guilds. which he has been doing. and i am in the process of getting the mats to make for xense the blacksmithing epic hunter polearm.

along the way, farming mats have helped to gain xp for many of my toons. a few of them are just a hop and skip from level cap. that’s cavelion and everstone. as for the rest, like opheilia and disowned, even though they are only L80, they can already queue for dungeon and tank them. whereas on jubei, i have L80 toons but  not enuf cata gear to queue for LFG yet.

so what i have been doing a lot is farming. both realms. so that they can get their profs up to level for the next xpac. to that effect, i have been buying the epic flying for 4k gold for some toons – gsauce and incorrigible on jubei, and moodykat on firetree. i should probably invest in the 4k for wormage and werewolfe too. well, those 2 will be my next targets for epic flying. naturally, a lot of the gold came from questing from L85s, and some from the AH of lower level mats.

finally, done with ahune

of all the ahune runs, zappel is the most unlucky one. i must have run it at least 10 times, each queue time is at least 30 minutes. fortunately, the last time was the first time the dps cloak dropped, and he won it over the other castor in the party.

i’ve had quite a few toons get their cloak on the first time to ahune, such as blackstealth and cavelion, when they were just L84.

anyway, now that i’ve got ahune under my belt, it’s time to focus on magel gearing for raid, as well as farming stuff. and i still need to level up my lowbie mage Wormage (L64) so that they can port ppl to Dalaran.

oh right. Blackstealth is now L85 and can lockpick boxes for the guild!

alts update

some of my toons got the new ambassador title, after the delay in getting Gilneas rep – Greeni for one.

i guess over time, more of my toons will hit level cap. Pickwick just hit L85 last week. working on Blackstealth@Firetree and various on Jubei’thos, esp Persi who is already L83 and running Cat dungeons

on the other hand, i have Rhoanin and Greeni hit L80 but put on hold for levelling them for the time being. i want to get more BoE green gear for them first.

for my lower ranking toons, the last of my Firetree lowbies are now into Outlands or soon to be. Werewolfe is L59 and will pop into Outlands next. Wormage already completed both dungeons in Hellfire Peninsula and is now L62. Gonna move him into Zangarmarsh

As for the Firetree raiding toons, Xense and Magel, both are iL346 blued out and raid ready. both have also been running H LFG for the valor points (VP) and Tol Barad (TB) for honor points (HP).

am gonna have to spend a lot of time farming to get the professions up for quite a few of my toons. that should keep me busy, but i dunno if i have the time come July. got some real life things to do then….

it helps to be in a guild. you get 50% guild rep tabard on getting Friendly, and 100% tabard on Honoured. so when you quest, you get rep for your guild. and your guild level benefits you too! after certain level you can get BoA gear which will help your alts level faster. you also get a better chance at getting into a raid and getting even better gear!

another new L85 – fruit@firetree

since fruit has been L84 for the longest time, i decided to just do the last bit and level him up. but i dont know what to do with him. probably put in cold storage for now

latest L85 – xense@firetree

usually top in dps in normal L85 dungeon runs, but can never win the loot she needs. dps trinket? went to rogue. dps ring? went to another rogue…. sigh

so she is still a long way from H gearing. more QQ (queuing)

(update 23 May: i was wrong. she is already running H after getting a few more pieces of gear in the normal 85 dungeon runs)

getting another toon to level cap

yup. this time, i am going to focus on xense, my firetree L81 hunter. yup. already L81 without doing much in terms of questing. some instances, some questing, some farming.

gonna get some rep along the way too. so have to do at the very least, the minimum questing for the rep. gonna limit the LFGs but very tempted by the JPs…. hmmmm. oh well, whatever happens, happens.

let’s see how long it will take to get xense to L85 on a casual basis.

L85 – spiritcat and zappel

ok i finally got 1 L85 toon on firetree and jubei’thos. but now comes the long slog for gear to run H. zzz.

oso need to do quests to open up zones and get rep (for gear).

will oso need to run fruit and everstone into BRC. otherwise all they can queue for is TotT.

having more fun with my lowbies. farming herbs and mines in STV is fun. kill stuff along the way. but i am avoiding arch. just cannot find the motivation to do it. maybe if i avoid it long enuf, bliz will make it easier? haha. fat hopes, right?

the best thing about both the guilds is that repairs can now be funded by guild. cos as u kill stuff, some money goes into the gbank. some of my lowbies are still guildless. i guess i like it that way. can just do stuff i like without ppl looking over my shoulders. but too bad about the repair bill. must pay it out of own pocket. actually, the real pain is the once in a while random guild invites.
